Our Mission Statement

The Montana International Children’s Film Festival provides Montana children and their families the opportunity to watch family films from all over the world. The festival's purpose is to bring international professors and students at the University of Montana together with Montana families to share their culture heritages, creating a festival where participants gain a sense of international awareness through mutual understanding and learning from one another.

  • To teach children to value their own culture and learn about other cultures.
  • To expose children to different languages and cultures through film and other cultural activities.
  • To bridge University of Montana international students with elementary and secondary school language teachers and their students.
  • To provide economic and social support to language teachers and their students.


About Our Team

Christy Ann Brown - Founder of the Montana International Children's Film Festival, now in its seventh season. Before that she directed New French Films at the University of Montana campus and Missoula Dance on Camera for three years. She has produced new theater in New York, Los Angeles, and at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She is a certified public school teacher in the state of Montana. She has a Masters Degree in Performing Arts from NYU. Over the years ChristyAnn has worked in all aspects of the performing arts from theory to producing to directing.

Andrea Hintermaier - Film Judge is an Austrian actress, coach, director and writer, living in NYC. She has been working in various US movies, such as Cold, Yellow and Dalliance, which screened at the Columbia University Filmest in NYC and LA. She is well known for her appearance in Schoenefeld Boulevard (Munich Film Festival) and starred in the web series Storm of Science and the TV Show Katie Fforde. She has also been cooperating with various theaters, such as the Brick Theater in Williamsburg and the Prince Regent in Munich. She wrote, directed and produced the movie Bruno, which is screening in festivals such as the Out on Film in Atlanta and the Garden City International in India. Andrea Hintermaier is also the founder of the famous non-profit organization Young Talents, a German acting school for kids and works as a coach and judge for famous companies such as TeamWorx, Columbia Pictures and various film festivals, such as Kuki in Berlin.

Dr. Ruth Vanita is the author of several books, including Dancing with the Nation: Courtesans in Bombay Cinema (forthcoming from Bloomsbury Press)and many literary translations, she has also published many academic articles on Shakespeare, Virginia Woolf, and Indian literature in journals such as Shakespeare Survey, Studies in English Literature 1500-1900, Comparative Drama, Postcolonial Studies, GLQ and Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion. She is a professor at the University of Montana as part of the Liberal Studies Program. Dr. Vanita led discussions on the film Arjun: The Warrior Prince during our 2015 Festival and serves as judge for the film selection for the festival.

Carl Clark - Technical Coordinator and Film Judge is a designer, web developer, and all around tech guy with 20 years of experience in design, marketing, web development, and IT management from Missoula, Montana. He is the Owner and Chief Pixel Pusher of his own company Bloks Design. He also works with the Montana Webmaster Team as part of a team of independent web developers.

Carl is a film aficionado whose children went to the Missoula International School. After seeing the amazing benefits exposure to other languages and cultures had on his own children, Carl hopes to help more kids have see those same benefits by giving them access to films from all over the world.
